The Ghan Indigenous Collection
Artist: Jordan Lovegrove of the Ngarrindjeri people
This artwork is a visual representation of guests’ journey on The Ghan travelling between Adelaide and Darwin through Australia’s heartland. The train line travels through this sun burnt country represented by the artwork’s deep-red background. I have incorporated camel tracks to symbolise the train line, which recognises the cameleers who were instrumental in building this historical track. The circular islands represent the different experiences guests can choose on their journey and no two circles are alike. This reflects the unique nature of each experience. Finally, the wavy shapes represent the ancient landscapes of Nitmiluk, the West Macdonnell Ranges and Umoona (The Breakways).
